Dead Pioneers emerged as a dynamic extension of vocalist Gregg Deal's performance art, seamlessly blending music with critical cultural commentary. Rooted in the same themes of identity and resistance that define his visual work, the band’s sound acts as a powerful platform for addressing the complexities of Indigenous experience. Deal harnesses the raw energy of punk and alternative influences to challenge prevailing narratives, using lyrics that provoke thought and evoke emotion. Just as his performance art confronts the legacies of colonization and systemic marginalization, Dead Pioneers - completed by Josh Rivera and Abe Brennan on guitars, bassist Lee Tesche (Algiers) and drummer Shane Zweygardt - engages audiences in a visceral dialogue about survival, resilience, and reclamation of voice. This musical endeavor not only amplifies his artistic vision but also creates a space for collective expression and solidarity, inviting listeners to reflect on the intersections of culture, history, and identity in a contemporary context. Through Dead Pioneers, Deal continues to assert that art, in all its forms, can be a powerful vehicle for activism and change.

Post-Hardcore Trio, based in Berlin Mit Hauptsitz in Berlin bringt die Band "Bad Assumption" frischen Wind in die Post-Hardcore-Szene. Der Sound des Trios erinnert an Billy Talent mit Old-School Hardcore Breakdowns und sorgt so für eine intensive und packende Hörerfahrung.
Nach der Veröffentlichung ihres 2ten Albums "No Excuses" hat die Band über 150 Konzerte gespielt und ihre Präsenz auf den Bühnen Deutschlands gefestigt. Im November 2024 veröffentlichten sie Ihr 3tes Album „TRACKSUITPUNX“. Die dazu veröffentlichten Singles des Albums "Saint" und "On the Ledge" stehen für gefühlvolle und energiegeladene Musik mit dem Inhalt gesellschaftskritischer Themen.
"Bad Assumption" sind für Fans von Billy Talent, While She Sleeps und Beartooth eine gute Anlaufstelle. Ein Markenzeichen der Band sind ihre Tracksuits – durch die sie sich auf der Bühne zu den selbsternannten "Tracksuitpunx" verwandeln.

DAGGER THREAT have been pushing the boundaries of heavy music since 2016 – fusing Hardcore with the raw energy of early 2000s Nu Metal. Y2K is in their DNA: mechanical grooves, glitchy textures, mosh-fueled riffs and a no-frills, all-impact attitude.
After the release of their debut Gestaltzerfall (2019 via BDHW Records), the Hamburg-based band quickly built momentum with relentless touring across Europe. Their sophomore album Weltschmerz (2022), born in pandemic isolation, showed a darker and more emotional side, while the Unchained EP (2023) expanded their stylistic range and sharpened their industrial edge.
With over 200 shows across 12 countries – including tours with Comeback Kid, Distant and Nasty – DAG-GER THREAT have carved out a reputation as one of the hardest-working heavy acts in the game.
2025 marks the beginning of their next chapter. Following the teaser single Becoming, DAGGER THREAT joined Boundaries and Varials for a full EU/UK tour in April, using the road to unveil their evolving sound to a wider audience. Now, their next single “404” (out August 8th) takes a deep dive into themes of digital burnout, system failure and emoti-onal numbness. It’s the first in a trilogy of connected releases leading up to their upcoming third album – set to drop in January 2026, just in time for their 10-year anniversary.
With a slot at Summer Breeze, a fall tour with Nasty, and more singles and visuals in the pipeline, DAGGER THREAT are entering their most focused and ambitious era yet.

From Tijuana, Mexico, Habak exploded onto the DIY scene with what they describe as “crust melódico” – emotionally charged music that blazes a path through crust, screamo, and post-metal.The searing passion HABAK plays with is both matched by and sourced from their desire to imagine a different future, unmarred by the struggle of surviving life under capitalism. The Tijuana, MX band’s crust melódico is stronger and more intricately written than it’s ever been on their third LP and sixth official release, “Mil Orquídeas En Medio Del Desierto” (A Thousand Orchids in the Middle of the Desert). Habak is at the point of dynamic mastery. Nothing is done without intention, every upbeat part is prefaced. Nothing fast happens without introduction, and certainly not by a hastily added drum fill. Habak are too sophisticated for that, especially for a band combining two genres both not exactly known for such discernment and poise. Likened to early 2000’s Spanish emocrust, Habak’s playing from guitarists Juan and Eduardo is as gorgeous as ever, but the songwriting accentuates the beauty of such melodies in a way still unachieved by many of their peers. Rounded out by bassist Alejandro and vocalist Alex, the band forms like a diamond with perfect clarity, shining with a beauty that only an ensemble refined by over a decade of pressure could.

Auch 2026 ist das JuHa West Teil der About Pop 2026 – und holt mit Agriculture eine einzigartige und gefeierte Black-Metal-Band aus Los Angeles erstmals nach Stuttgart
Diversität, queeres Leben und Gender-Denken in der extremen Musik:
PANEL und KONZERT
Extremer Metal in all seinen Ausprägungen war lange in der Hand weißer cis-Männer. Das ändert sich. Neue Bands, neue Sichtweisen, neue Impulse verschaffen sich Platz in einem Genre, das viel zu lange heterogener Konformität überlassen war. Mehr Diversität, mehr Queerness, weniger Mackertum: Eine Zeitenwende oder nur ein kurzlebiges Phänomen? In einem Panel erforschen Moderator Björn Springorum und Journalistin Christina Wenig gemeinsam mit Mitgliedern von Agriculture und dem lokalen Support-Act Nessel, was es damit auf sich hat. Nach dem großen Erfolg im Vorjahr ist dies das zweite Mini-Festival im Festival – About Pop goes About Metal.

Agriculture spielen „ecstatic black metal”. Die lodernde Härte des Genres mit seinen sengenden Gitarren und rasenden Drums wird von der Band aus Los Angeles mit einer euphorisierenden Dopamin-Ausschüttung und wunderschönen Melodien gekreuzt. Pechschwarz und doch voller Licht. Auch inhaltlich stehen die Zeichen auf Aufbruch: Queere Lebenswirklichkeiten und Zen-Buddhismus statt Misogynie und plumper Satanismus. „Black Metal, der sich anfühlt wie eine ozeanische Sommerliebe“, urteilte der Musikexpress.

Den Abend eröffnen Nessel aus Stuttgart, immer gern gesehene Gäste auf der Bühne des JuHa West.
